Eatonville had a championship basketball team from 1914-1918.

The first image shows a team that has just won its first season, with no idea they are headed for a streak. The team was pretty small — not a lot of room for someone out with an injury.

As the pictures progress you see some of the guys mature.

    1. I don’t know about Chuck, but if you’d like I can point you toward someone who is familiar with the Taylor family.

  2. The 1917 Eatonville basketball team was a championship team also. This is from the Tacoma Times, March 24, 1917 (found online at Chronicling America):
    EATONVILLE WINS TITLE
The Eatonville high school basketball team cinched the county championship last night by defeating the Puyallup high team, 28 to 21. The game was played at Puyallup. Elmlund, Needleton, F. and H. Mensik and Van Eaton formed the Eatonville team, with W. and R. Stewart, Lindmark, Hutton and Betters, for Puyallup.

“F. and H. Mensik” are Frank and Herman Hekel who, along with brother Adolf “Dolfie” Hekel and sister Louise Hekel were raised by Frank and Mary Mensik after their parents died.
