Dentist David Cook, third from the right, in front of the Bridge Hospital in Eatonville

Don Cook just told me that his father, Dr. David B. Cook was a dentist for The Bridge Clinic. That’s him, third from the right.

Don says, “He traveled rural Pierce County with a portable foot operated drill and at times set up his practice in the building which is now Countryside Real Estate.  The late Carl Langberg told me several years ago he remembered visiting Dr. Cook in that building.  It had been nurses quarters and a clinic for a time and was then a two story building. The drill my dad used is now in the hands of the South Puget Sound Historical Society. Later Dad had his office in the Bridge Clinic on Market Street north of 9th.”
The drill that Don’s talking about was on display this year at the Art Festival in the Historical Society booth. I’m sure it was high tech at the time, but a little scary today by today’s standards.
Thanks Don for providing this great glimpse into the town’s dental history!
