These two ads appeared in the 1929 Cruiser news.
King’s Place
The first — King’s Place — was a gas station built and run by Roscoe and Lottie King. It sat on the Highway 7 near the Ohop Grange.
It’s hard to image picking up lunch here from these pictures, but the place prospered. Over the years it changed hands and each owner would give it a new face lift breath new life into it. In the end it was barely recognizable from its simple beginnings.
Blacksmith & Machine Shop
Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of the blacksmith shop. But I do have a little scoop on owner, Carl Bjorkman. He was s a scoutmaster and specialized in archery. Besides welding and machine work, he was an expert bow and arrow maker. He and C. C. Jayne also organized a rifle club.
