The Weyerhaeuser Elementary School wasn’t always the modern structure you see today. In fact, changed a couple times before becoming the facility it is today.
The first one was an older school house. The second, brick building (340th & Mt. Hwy. E.) was built on late donated by the Trask family. For decades the school housed classes first through 8th. In fact, my mom Kathy Hackman Mettler, as well as many of my classmates were Weyerhaeuser students.

I went to Weyerhauser school in 1956 and would love to have any pictures of the school. Its a great memory to see this picture

The school is still there. It is being converted to a different form of education. The owner is remodeling the interior to house former transitional veterans and civilians into Transitional, Vocational, Social, Emotional, and Spiritual Rehabilitation. The owner is a veterans and minister who is keeping the exterior except for the roof in the original condition. The only change to the outside of the house is a concrete slab out the back door.

I went to Weyerhaeuser Elementary School back in the early 80’s (I loved my 6th grade teacher. Hi Mr. Castor!) Anyway, One year the students and staff got together and we buried a time capsule. I’ve since moved to Florida, years ago actually, and I’ve always wondered if they ever dug it up? Anyway of finding out?

Does anyone know which building was used up until like 1978? I went to kindergarten in old Weyerhaeuser school. It was off mountain hwy.

Hi, Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Yes, the building that is off the Mountain Highway is still there. It is being remodeled right now (for what purpose, I’m not 100% sure) but it looks very similar. You’d recognize it immediately. 🙂

I happen to be the one honored enough to be doing the remodeling to this building. We are turning it into a ministry for men. It it owned by his truth ministries. Attended 4th and half of 5th grades in 1974-75, before moving away. What a blast from the past to see these pic’s. Thank you for posting this site.

For years I drove by this empty school always wondering about it. Although some said they attended there in the ’70s, I never saw it in use in the ’60s. Why did it get the name, Weyerhaeuser? Was it a one-room schoolhouse? I went to school with someone whose family had a store located at the NW corner of 340th and Christensen / Muck Rd E. I believed they call it, ‘Flooel’s Corner.’ I also believe 340th was the dividing line between the Bethel and Eatonville school districts.

” Fogel’s” store was the name of the business down the highway. 304th was the dividing line with Bethel school district. I went to Weyerhauser elementary in the 4th through 6th grade, 1968-1970.

My mom went there, and so did a lot of my friends. I’m sure it was named after Weyerhaeuser because they probably donated the property, but I’m not sure. I should check. Yes, that was Foggel’s store and house at the corner. I still hear it called that from time to time . . . and by me. 🙂

Iwent to school here in the sixties and early 70s. My sister and brother graduated high school at Eatonville high school.

My sister and I were there 1964-1965, then the 7-8 grades started going to Eatonville during the consolidation times of the K-8. There were about 6 of us in the 7th grade there. The old building was still used for some gatherings. We were at yelm in ’63, before that we were at Lacamas – can’t find any info on the Lacamas K-8. We lived on what is now 320th.

I hi went to werehouser in the 60’s have alot of memories of that time. My grand folks lived close to Johnson’s corner. An we had a meat locker at Folgels, Got my first hunting license there. I would stop by the school whenever I was back home. I had lived with my grand folks during that time, went to that school for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. My folks were military. Dad went to Nam during that time. I loved living on the farm. After 6th grade moved to my parents but would move back to the farm from wherever we were living at the time. Back then military families were moved every 2 years. I kind of kept track of the old school over the years. I lived lots of places over the years, Joined the Air For for awhile but that area felt like home. I like to fish and would periodically return to fish the local lakes. On my last trip I went by the school and there was a trailer behind the school building
