I believe Anna Hats is Anna Hotes.
I am searching for any mention of Hotes from 1988 to 1920. I am trying to build my family tree. My great-grandfather was Martin Gerhard Hotes who founded and platted Alder and was the first postmaster of that town. My grandfather was Jon Martin Hotes. I would be very grateful for any info or direction. I hope to visit Eatonville this year and the Alder Cemetary. I have Ancestry and MyHeritage accounts.

That’s great! And I can probably put you in touch with some old timers in town that know some about your family too. There are still references to the Hotes family in town. We had a Hotes Hall. Also, the town has a book, History of Southeastern Pierce County, which has a many references to your family — Elizabeth, Fred, John, Mrs. Fred, Margaret and Martin. I also have a book on postmasters and it looks like Martin, then Fred, and then Miss Elizabeth C. Hotes were all postmasters at Alder, covering 1902 through 1921. Anyway, hope I can help.

Wow! So cool. This is very helpful. I am not sure when I will make it. Being in my 70’s I don’t drive in snow anymore. I will let you know.

If you come in the summer, you should avoid the snow, I think. Where are you coming from?
