“Amby Potts is the Ringleader looking character,” says Carl Rotter.

By today’s standards this is uncomfortable (to say the least), but back then folks hadn’t heard the term politically correct yet.

Did they raise money? They sure did. Here are some receipts from the 1953 auction. It looks like a pair of wool socks by Matilda Hedborg could bring in $7.00 ($61 by todays standards).

I think I would have bid on the postholes.
