This is an aerial shot, taken from Elbe on October 6, 1954. Below is the Nisqually-Alder Reservoir.
Construction on the Alder dam we see today was started in 1942 and completed in 1945. (There was an earlier one.) Back in 1945 Alder dam was one of the tallest dams in the United States.
