John was born December 12, 1911, the son of T. C. Van Eaton. When the picture was taken he was working for Boeing as a machinist.

Shortly after this photo was taken he would have his 3rd son (Tom).7 years later he would have a 2nd daughter, Margaret. He was man of principle and quiet understanding… He truly was a larger than life figure to all who he spoke with. He measured each word, so that, all a man could do was hope that he agreed with their reasoning. He seemed like Paul bunyan to me. He wasn’t though; just my Grandfather.

I was one of John’s nurses when he passed. Dr Tom delivered my 3 sons in 1986, 1987 and 1992. Elsie let me read books about the family during my weekends that I stayed at the house with her and John. I became fascinated with the town and history of Eatonville. Bless this family. Thank you Louise, for sharing Dr Tom with us.
